The Hidden Truth is a suspense thriller film. Governor Jaisingh Sinha is murdered and the needle of suspicion points towards his estranged son, Sahil Sinha who must prove his innocence. Gupt was praised for its storyline, suspense, performances, soundtrack and direction. A major box-office success, Gupt became the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 1997. It earned several accolades at different award ceremonies including 3 Filmfare Awards.
